Surrey Community Action has launched a new Community Buildings Grant Fund in partnership with Surrey County Council.
The Covid Recovery Grant scheme will provide funding to help community buildings with their post Covid recovery. Community buildings will need to be Tier Two members of Surrey Community Action’s community buildings support scheme to apply to the temporary fund.
Community Buildings will be able to apply for grants between £500 and £2,000 for capital expenditure for buildings, gardens and fittings only (building/garden improvements, refurbishment, decorations, new items – appliances, fitted furniture, etc.). Surrey Community Action has £35,000 to distribute in total.
The scheme will be open for applications between 1 April and 30 June 2022, after which a panel will allocate awards to successful applicants.
The grant application form will be short and easy to complete, and bids will be judged on a scored criteria based on:
– Strong evidence of Covid recovery need (25%)
– Benefits to existing and new user groups (25%)
– Strong history of benefitting minority groups and/or ‘hard to reach’ communities, including those who struggle to access community services (25%)
– Budget with examinable quotes (25%)
Bids can be part of a larger project as long as the grant money is specifically spent on capital items and quotes/receipts are provided.
Grants will be distributed in September 2022, and proof of expenditure (receipts) required by end of March 2023, or funds will need to be returned.
If there are not enough suitable bidders in this first round of applications then the scheme will reopen in October 2022.
