Good Neighbour Schemes
Covid-19 update: Please note that as many of the good neighbour schemes are mostly supported by older volunteers not all will be operating or may be operating on a limited scale. Please contact your nearest scheme for information.
Good Neighbour Schemes provide community based care and support for people in the local community who need help with some of the basics of day-to-day living. Watch our video to find out more about the difference good neighbour schemes make.
Volunteers will donate their time to help their neighbours to help with things like:
- Visiting friends
- Attending appointments
- Pension and prescription collection
- Moving a fridge or other heavy furniture
- Writing a letter
- Filling in a form
These schemes are operated by local volunteers for the benefit of their local communities, and can be a very rewarding experience for the volunteers, who provide an important service to their local community.
We are able to provide advice and support to individuals and groups wishing to start a new scheme, and can help existing schemes to thrive and grow.
If you would like to volunteer for a scheme, contact Vicki Turton, and she will signpost you to your nearest scheme, or contact Vicki if you are interested in starting a new scheme.
