Volunteer transport in Merstham, Redhill and Reigate for people who cannot use public transport and do not drive.

We have a pool of volunteers with their own cars to provide transport, and escort elderly patients to and from health and welfare appointments. A charge is made to cover costs. We take wheelchairs.

Newdigate Good Neighbours is a voluntary organisation serving adults in the village who are in need. They aim to offer neighbourly help by carrying out tasks that one could reasonably expect a good neighbour to undertake. They are also looking for volunteers to join them.

Brockham Wheels 4U is a voluntary car scheme providing transport for Brockham residents who are unable to get to and from surgeries, hospitals and other essential appointments any other way. If you are unable to drive a car, use the bus easily, have no friend or relative to take you then Wheels 4U can help.

Boxhill Transport Scheme provides volunteer drivers for people who find it difficult to use public transport or to access medical facilities such as GP surgeries and hospitals.

Our purpose is to help those in the village who need transport to attend doctors’ surgeries, dentists, hospital appointments etc. If you feel you would like to spare a little time to help, please contact us.

Our main aim is to provide a helping hand if a member of your family, a friend or a neighbour would appreciate support when, for whatever reason, others are unable to give it. Mostly this involves taking a client to a medical appointment, waiting with them and then taking them safely home.

Most of our help is providing transport to and from medical appointments – be it to the GP, a local Hospital, Dentist, Optician, Podiatrist or Physiotherapist. In addition to our local hospitals, we do extend our services to include visits to St George’s in Tooting, St Peter’s in Chertsey and Royal Marsden in Sutton to name but a few. We are also happy to take a Client to visit their spouse or partner in a local nursing home.

As with all good neighbours, there are other tasks which are sometimes carried out, such as shopping from a list if the client is housebound or collecting prescriptions. Urgent light handyman/DIY jobs, which are often difficult for a client to tackle, can sometimes be dealt with by one of our skilled volunteers.

Volunteering for AGN is enjoyable, fulfilling and very rewarding. It is a flexible commitment with absolutely no pressure to accept any particular job unless it suits.

The Wheel of Care’s main aim is to help anyone in West Horsley so as to ensure they do not become socially isolated and can get out and about to appointments or to meet up with friends. The Wheel is here to help anyone in need…irrespective of their age or financial situation. Nearly all of the help requested involves car journeys, normally with the “client” as a passenger but shopping and prescriptions can also be fetched for those not able to get out themselves and some small DIY jobs can be done. We think it is crucial that people who are perhaps living on their own and may be a little lonely have the opportunity to get out regularly and meet with friends for some companionship whilst at the same time taking part in some sort of activity. Anyone living in neighbouring villages can attend any of our three friendly clubs – they are not limited to those living in West Horsley. Help with transport to/from the clubs can also be arranged for those living in the Horsleys, Effingham or Ockham. All clubs include tea or coffee and biscuits or cakes so why not come along and have some fun at one…or all…of our clubs!

Send Help is a good neighbour scheme available to anyone, young or old, living in Send, Send Marsh and Burnt Common. We help with transport to the surgery, hospital appointments, chiropodist, hairdresser, etc. help with filling in forms, shopping, odd jobs and visiting lonely or housebound people.
