Find a Good Neighbour

We provide transport for East and West Molesey residents who have transport difficulties, irrespective of age to medical appointments, going shopping, collecting pension etc. Also provides help with paper work, odd jobs, sitting service etc. People must be a resident of Molesey, but the service can take you further afield, eg to London hospitals on an occasional basis. We’re also looking for people to join as as volunteer drivers and duty officers.

This good neighbours scheme helps older and vulnerable people get out and about to their appointments. The scheme is for residents of: Ash Ash Vale Ash Green Services include: transport to appointments such as doctors, hospital, and dentist visit to the library or a club help with shopping a friendly chat over a cup of tea All volunteers who will have face-to-face contact with clients have undertaken a DBS check.

Staines Helping Hands is a local charitable organisation set up by volunteers for the help and benefit of those living in the TW18 Staines-upon-Thames area. The type of help they provide includes:

• Essential transport to and from the hospital, clinics, and health centres
• Collection of clients’ prescriptions
• Accompanying clients with shopping and medical appointments
• Visiting elderly, disabled, or housebound clients for a chat or a cuppa
• Assistance with letter writing and form-filling
• Anything a good neighbour would do.

A volunteer-run, community transport scheme for residents of the St. Johns, Hermitage, Hook Heath and Brookwood areas of Woking, who would otherwise have difficulty attending medical appointments and accessing local services. Volunteers can help elderly or infirm residents with transport to attend medical appointments and other trips and other support to help people to live in their homes independently. We help with things like:

• Transport to doctors, dentist, hospitals etc. and to hairdressers or the shops

• Shopping

• Visits to see friends

• Small odd jobs at home

Our scheme covers:

• St. Johns

• Hermitage

• Hook Heath

• Brookwood.

When neighbours and families are unable to assist on occasion or for an unexpected series of appointments we are there to help.

It might be for, a lift to the doctor at the health centre, or dentist, the local hospital or collection of a prescription. (Pyrford & Wisley Helping Others volunteers cannot accept long-term commitments, but can support a series of appointments if necessary.)

We are also able to provide meals on a short term basis for those in crisis or difficulty.

Could you volunteer to drive those who live in Pyrford and Wisley?

We need drivers for short simple drop-offs, pushing a wheelchair if necessary, taking people to appointments and waiting to take them home, a great chance to catch up on a good book perhaps!

We are a friendly, local group of 20 volunteers who support approximately 40 clients. Most of our work is driving clients to medical appointments at local hospitals, GP surgeries and dentists as well as giving lifts to hairdressers and local shops.

• Mayford

• Barnsbury

• Mount Hermon

We offer clients help with:

• Transport to local hospitals, GP surgeries and dentists

• Lifts to hairdressers and shops

• Doing shopping or collecting prescriptions

• Friendly, supportive home visits

• Giving information about local services

Volunteers give their time for free but can claim a mileage allowance. The type, time and amount of help you give is up to you.  Our clients usually give a small donation for the help they receive.

Knaphill Care is a local ‘good neighbour scheme’ covering the area GU21. We help with things like transport, especially to doctors, hospitals, hairdressers, social events. Volunteer drivers use their own cars to take elderly Knaphill residents to medical appointments, as well as offering transport to local shops, hairdressers, social events and other local services. //Please only call the supplied number between: 10.00am-12.00pm//

Illness, disability or mobility problems can sometimes make it difficult for older residents to get to important appointments or even to the local shops. In most cases, we have found that our clients don’t have relatives or friends living close by, so they rely on Horsell Care for transport.

Horsell Care also arranges social events and runs quarterly coffee mornings where clients and volunteers chat over refreshments. Annual events include a canal trip on a narrow boat, an Easter lunch at a local Pub, a Christmas lunch at a local pub, a visit to Wisley Gardens, lunch at the AGM and a Christmas Party for all our clients at the Horsell Evangelical Church.

Our scheme covers:

• Horsell Village in Woking with the following boundaries: Carthouse Lane in the West; Sheerwater Road in the East with the Canal as the southern boundary and Well Lane and Bullbeggars Lane as the western boundary.

We offer clients help with:

• Shopping

• Transport to the surgery or dental practice

• Transport to hospital

• Transport to social events either organised by Horsell Care or other organisations

We have been helping people on Goldsworth Park since 2001. We offer our clients a free strawberry tea in the Summer and a Christmas party in December.

We ask for a donation towards our costs from anyone using our services.

We always need duty officers (they answer the phone for two hours in the morning when they are available and arrange the pickups) and also volunteer drivers (a DBS check is required for our drivers).

Our scheme covers:

• Goldsworth Park plus a few outlying streets, such as Winnington Way, Goldsworth Road and the Kingsway.

We offer clients help with:

• Transport to the doctor, hospitals and other appointments

• Shopping

• Household odd jobs

• Form filling

• Or we can just provide a spot of company
