This week is Rural Housing Week – an annual celebration of rural housing to reinforce the message that housing is vital for the survival of rural communities and services.
The week is used to highlight key rural issues and shine a spotlight on successful developments that offer a lifeline to local people in our market towns and villages.
Our Rural Housing Enabler works with housing associations, borough and parish councils and landowners to create opportunities for more affordable housing in our rural villages where the average home can cost more then 30% more. Find out more here.
Surrey Community Action along with Waverley Borough Council, Guildford Borough Council, Mole Valley District Council, Tandridge District Council, Mount Green Housing Association and English Rural Housing Association has also formed the Surrey Rural Housing Partnership to work with local communities, to increase the supply of rural affordable housing, enabling local people on modest incomes to remain or return to the village.
