Thoughts of a CEO June 2021

Even as the Delta variant of Covid causes some concern, the fact that many of us are now vaccinated (or about to be) means that it still feels like we are heading back towards some sort of normal. This week I had a (socially distanced) face-to-face meeting with a colleague and it was great to be able to interact without a camera and microphone in the way! Like many of my colleagues across the sector, we are thinking about what the office will look like in the future: Will we be home based? Office? Both? How will we run meetings? Online? Face-to- face? Whatever we decide, we all need to make sure that we continue to look after the best interests of our staff and volunteers. ACAS have produced some good guidance (https://www.acas.org.uk/working-safely-coronavirus/returning-to-the-workplace) to help make sure I do what’s right for the team here at Surrey Community Action.

One of the things I like best about my work is being able to meet and work with many charities and community groups of different sizes and shapes, learning about what they do, and also offering any help and support that the team here at Surrey Community Action can. You can see some feedback from one of our VCFS friends below (we are blushing!). Now that things are opening up again, I’d like to hear from more of you, so get in touch if you fancy a (virtual or safe face-to-face) chat about the challenges you are facing and how we can help, from finance to governance and everything in between.
