Community Champion  North Surrey Are you looking for a new role working within the local community to promote and enhance people’s wellbeing. As part of a small team the Community Champion will develop good social networks making connections with individuals and professionals to promote the services of Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey. Within the role you will support the work of the organisation at a borough/district level visiting community centres, networking with local organisations, arranging and facilitating small social inclusion events and providing talks to local community groups. This is a varied and exciting role for a self-motivated individual looking to make a difference at a local level and to individuals. This role would suit an empathetic, compassionate, self-motivated individual with good time management, interpersonal and organisational skills. IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft office is essential. The post holder will need to be able to travel within allocated boroughs in Surrey, and on occasion to Head Office in Fetcham.


  1. To visit and work with community centres to promote and highlight the services offered by Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey
  2. To attend local networking/disability events organised by partner organisations
  3. To forge relationships with organisations/individuals both within the public and private sector
  4. Organise and support Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey events for service users to promote social inclusion within local communities.
  5. Develop and facilitate a monthly recreational/social program of talks and activities for individuals we support.
  6. To deliver talks to local community organisations promoting Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey and the services available
  7. To support the work undertaken by other specialisms within the Fundraising & Engagement team
  8. To ensure records and statistics are compiled quarterly for appropriate reporting mechanisms.
  9. Due to the nature of this role this may include, on occasion, evening and weekend working.


  • Organised and able to manage a number of ongoing tasks
  • Confident giving talks and providing information about the organisation
  • Flexible approach to support the needs of the department
  • Ability to make decisions and use initiative
  • Good time management skills to ensure effective use of time and productivity
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures
  • Confident using various IT systems including Microsoft 365.
