Cups & Co is a coffee shop run by a local charity ALDAG and is open to the public for six days a week Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. The position can be full time or part time with flexibility around days and hours. The salary is based on £12.50 an hour.
Key requirements will be the ability to create a welcoming space with good food on offer whilst developing the catering and hospitality skills of our team and building strong partnerships with the local community. We have a great team of young people with a learning disability who are part of our team and in addition you will be supported by a trustee from the charity.

ALDAG is a small charity based in Mole Valley providing opportunities focused on developing social and work experience opportunities for young people with a learning disability. Cups & Co provides a valuable resource for the local community as well as a training opportunity to help our team learn new skills and gain the required confidence to enable them to move onto other opportunities and paid employment.
Core Responsibilities
The Manager will support and train people with a learning disability, working in liaison with the second manager for the overall management and performance of the coffee shop.
The ideal candidate will either have experience of working with people who have a learning disability or have management experience in a catering environment.
It is desirable if the candidate:
• has or be willing to gain a level 2 Health and Safety certificate appropriate to a catering environment
• has a level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and is willing to gain a level 3.
• has or be willing to gain a First Aid Certificate
• IT, literacy and numeracy skills for completing forms, recording handovers, managing finance etc.
Customer service
1.Understand ALDAG’s ethos and promote ALDAG positively within the local community, breaking down barriers and increasing understanding of learning disability.
2. Ensuring the coffee shop offers a welcoming environment maintaining excellent customer service.
3. Preparation and presentation of good quality food and beverages.
4. Setting the tone: monitoring of lighting, heating and general front of house housekeeping.
5. Identifying strategies to retain and attract new customers and increasing sales.
We can offer a fully funded apprenticeship Hospitality Supervisor qualification for the manager for interested applicants.
