Do you support unemployed people?
Our Inspiring Enterprise Mentor and Trainer, Suzanne Hodnett explains how the project has helped a new start-up through the pandemic.
The Inspiring Enterprise team have recently had the privilege of working with Ben Mallinson, a carpenter by trade, who decided to use his skills to create lovely, high quality wooden toys for his daughter whilst he was out of work following the Coronavirus lockdown.
The word started to spread and friends, family and contacts asked him to do the same for their children. He soon found himself busy in his workshop! It was clear that there was a big opportunity here for Ben to not only embrace his new found hobby but also to turn his situation around from struggling for employment to a new business venture which could earn him an income whilst working from home around his family.
His designs are crafted from quality wood and finished with certified child safe paints. As Ben launches his new persona trading as ‘Emilia’s Dad Makes’ (find him on Instagram or visit his website), he is looking forward to a busy Christmas handmaking traditional toys for many more children.
