The Department of Work and Pensions announced a Household Support Grant of £500 million to be allocated across the UK. Surrey County Council has been allocated £5.3m to help those most vulnerable residents who are struggling financially. The funding has been provided to help with food, energy bills, water and other essentials. While some of the funding has already been allocated (for example providing food vouchers to families with children entitled to free school meals during the October half term), Surrey County Council, Districts & Boroughs, and VCFS representatives are looking for the best routes to ensure that the remaining funding is allocated to those people most in need, as expediently as possible.
If you are a countywide organisation that focuses on emergency support around food, utilities and other essentials, and are experienced in distributing support and providing management information, and you can do all this by the end of March 2022, please register your interest with Saba Hussain or Hannah Dirks as soon as possible – there is a very tight turnaround needed! It would help if you describe your reach, who your beneficiaries are, and how you distribute support in your email to Saba and Hannah.
