Churt Village Hall was given to the village in 1928 by Frank Mason, a local businessman, who built it on land backing on to the Recreation Ground bought by villagers as a memorial to the dead of the First World War.
One of the Hall's early Trustees was David Lloyd George, who was a local resident. During the Second World War the Hall was used for many wartime services and weekly dances. Today it is used by a number of local organisations.
Registered as a charity, the Hall is run by a management committee of local residents and is the hub for many local activities. The hall has recently been completely re-decorated with new state of the art lighting.
It is currently used by a number of local organisations including Churt Amateur Dramatic Society (CADS), Churt Horticultural and Produce Society (CHAPS), the local Women's Institute and a nursery school. They, and others, host dinners, flower shows, pantomimes, plays, dancing and fitness classes, quiz nights, birthday parties and much more.
The Hall is a valued asset to the local community and members of the management committee are pleased to hire it out to help keep the Hall maintained.
