Community Action is organising the Fuller’s Surrey
Village of the Year competition. Villages that enter will
be judged across four areas of rural village life, including
communities, business, sustainability and communications.
|
|
| The judges are looking for well balanced, pro-active, caring
village communities which, irrespective of size, are making
the best of local opportunities in order to enhance and sustain
a better quality of life for all inhabitants. |
|
All Surrey villages with a population of up to 5,000 are
eligible to enter and will be judged on the four key areas:
the provision of community facilities and services; the vitality
of local business; sustainability and what the village is doing
to help protect and improve the environment locally and for
the wider world; and how good and innovative the village is
at communications, at keeping people informed about what is
going on and welcoming newcomers.
As well as the overall village of the year award, with a prize
of £500, there are awards in each of the four categories
with prizes of £200 each. Category prizes will be given
to winners in small, medium and larger villages, so everyone
stands a chance of winning.

|
| The entry process is simple and judging will take place later
in the year. The deadline for nominations is 3 May 2011
. To enter, please complete the entry form or for more information
