Introducing Community Led Housing in Surrey
Community-led housing projects are a way for local people to build permanently affordable homes within their own neighbourhoods. They are gaining momentum across the country with a growing number of successful schemes providing affordable homes for local people. Together with eight Surrey boroughs and districts Surrey Community Action has formed the Surrey Community Housing Partnership.
We’re running events on 19th and 22nd February 2018 in Guildford and Leatherhead respectively which will explore the opportunities, potential and challenges of community led housing in Surrey. We’ll discuss the support, resources and funding available to help communities form groups and develop housing. With speakers from a community group which has completed the development process, a national community housing organisation and a self-build group the mornings should be truly informative. Discussions will include Community Land Trusts (CLTs), Co-Housing and Self-Build.
The event on 19th February in Guildford is intended for people from Elmbridge, Guildford, Surrey Heath, Waverley and Woking. Register for this event and find out more at the event page on Eventbrite.
The event on 22nd February is aimed at people from Epsom & Ewell, Mole Valley and Tandridge. Register for this event and find out more at the event page on Eventbrite.
If you can’t make it to the event for your area, do register for the other event. If you have any queries contact David Cowan, Community Housing Project Manager at Surrey Community Action – call 01483 447115 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
