CVS/Volunteer Centres - Councils of Voluntary Service (CVS) and Volunteer Centres (VC)

Surrey CVS Network  
Surrey Community Action is a member of the Surrey CVS Network. This is a Surrey wide network of voluntary and community sector organisations, know as CVS (Council for Voluntary Service) that provide support and advice to a vast number of voluntary and community groups throughout the county.

The Network employs a Development Manager, Sonia Hubbard, who disseminates best practice and works hard to avoid each separate organisation ‘reinventing the wheel’. There is a CVS in almost every borough in Surrey plus a county wide one. Volunteer centres are also widespread, either as an integral part of the CVS or as an independent, stand alone organisation.

Volunteer Centres recruit for the voluntary and statutory agencies and act as a focal point for people who are looking for voluntary work and there are 16 of them across Surrey. Both CVS and Volunteer Centres aim to increase public awareness of the personal rewards and satisfaction that can be found through voluntary work.
