Help and Advice Available to Village Shops in Surrey

Village shops are vital to the life and future of all villages. Many of the people who live in these villages cannot reach large supermarkets and enjoy the local interaction that can take place in a village shops.
Surrey Community Action supports village shops as a facility for people who cannot access alternative facilities and as a focal point for community life.

Our Retail adviser will visit you to discuss your ideas and requirements, and to give advice if needed, at no cost to you.

This service includes:

· Help with analysing current business needs
· Preparation of business plans-identification of threats and opportunities
· Information on sources of Finance including banks etc
· Advice on grants available to shops for further development
· Advice on use of technology to increase efficiency e.g electronic tills,computers to manage accounts,stock control systems,newspaper rounds etc
· Access to advice on marketing,shop layout/range of stock etc
· Advice on setting up and running community based shop
· Advice on rates reviews with local authority
