Rural Housing
There is an acute shortage of affordable homes in the rural areas of Surrey, which has a significant impact on the sustainability of communities. With the high cost of house prices in rural villages, many local people are forced to move out of the area to find a property they can afford.

Affordable homes for local people in villages can make a big difference to communities, helping ensure that local facilities and services remain open and that families can stay together.

Surrey Community Action employs a Rural Housing Enabler who can provide support and impartial advice to Parish Councils and rural communities on how to can get affordable housing that meets the needs of your local people.

The first step towards getting a scheme built for local people is often to undertake a parish housing needs survey, which helps establish what local people think of the idea of homes for local people, and also establishes what the local need might be. This is something The Rural Housing Enabler can assist with.
